Hooray! I'm posting to an online journal... I'm trendy now! I do solemnly swear that I will never use the term "blog," as I hate it.

For my first design-related pronouncement, I will say that it sucks to design for a hospital. I'm currently working on my third and there is little room for creativity. It's the opposite of Now Culture... it's "this design is going to be here for fifteen years and we don't want any old ladies to be confused or uncomfortable by your cryptic doodles (anything not created in Word) and outrageous color scheme (anything that isn't blue.)

Fortunately, I'm still young and bold enough to go ahead and present crazy designs and give the client a chance to do something different. I think it's important to fight for your ideas. You hire me for my creativity, so don't expect me to give you the easy, "everybody-does-it" solution.
