Should Design be treated as such: as a communication to the elite - to the erudites? Such a suggestion is ludicrous as well as impossible. The world has already become to Design what museums are to art, what theatres are to plays, what libraries are to literature, what cinemas are to film, what radio is to music. Society and our senses are the conduits from which Design gains its audience. Its forum is greater and larger than the museums, the theatres, the libraries, the cinemas, and the radio. Its forum is all of these and more. There is a lot riding on the shoulders of the newest art form. All of the expectations associated with the other arts, as well as all of the expectations associated with a new form.
