American Culture has turned itself away from the East - from the Design of Japan. American Culture treats Japanese Design as a consumable product: gorging greedily without accepting the art or the communication behind the Design. Japan is a society that has a unified, almost collaborative, Design vision. American Culture does not. American Culture devours the empty calories of Japan's Aesthetic Design appeal, without savoring the heartier, more filling portions of Japanese Design Culture. American Culture attempts to emulate Japanese Design Culture, but all that American Culture wants is the empty calories of visual impact. American Culture does not want to invest the time or expend the energy to appreciate, understand, or disassemble Japanese Design Culture componently.
