Design is not the creation of art in a traditional sense. Design is the creation of communication. Design is not the creation of art, it is the artistic communication of an idea. There must be an artistic method of expressing design, without allowing it to become art. Design must make allowances for change in its expression. If painting is a comment, then design must be a subtle scream. If music is a glance, then design must be a witty observation. If sculpture is phatic speech, then design must be an in-depth conversation. If writing is a question, then design must be a philosophical discussion. Design has to be everything that other arts are, and Design has to be much much more than other arts could hope to be. Design's sole purpose is the communication of an idea. It must do it well.
