An argument is not a contest.

Many people stop listening when they have a difference of opinion... they get into the act of converting others to their opinion. I, however, have never known anyone who was swayed by an argument over opinions. We're so concerned that we're right, that we begin to believe that everyone else is wrong. "If you disagree with me, you're probably just misinformed or too stupid to understand the truth." This seems to be the driving force behind most arguments. People seem to approach arguments as if they are the "Belief Missionary."
