Terrorism forces us to make a choice. Don't be afraid... Be Ready
and with that phrase, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security takes us down a roller coaster of fear-mongering at their new site READY.gov
They tell me that "Terrorists are working to obtain biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons and the threat of an attack is very real." "Working to obtain"? I don't care who's "working to obtain" these weapons. I already know of a country that has all of these weapons... and more. There's something ominous yet nauseating, that they are only forewarning us and preparing us against the threat of the weapons that they are already testing to use against the "Terrorists".
When you put up information telling the American populace to deal with a nuclear attack like this, then you're already hoping that they are stupid enough to think that they will be safe if they are that close to a nuclear epicenter. Perhaps they don't know what a nuclear blast does. Perhaps they think the blast wave moves very slowly...
This site is set up to warn us, it is set up to inspire fear in those that don't know any better... and, quite frankly, it inspires a different fear in me... It doesn't matter how smart or not you are, this page should scare you... it will scare the less intelligent into thinking that these threats are coming from outside, and it will scare the more intelligent that these threats are already here, in here...
I feel that the true purpose of the site is to ask, "Are you scared America?"
"Because you're not scared nearly enough..." |
