Michel D   Aye, There's the Rub

    From Blogger Support:
Unfortunately we cannot currently import comments from other providers. However, you may be able to archive your old comments from these systems to store on your computer. Contact the comment provider for more information.
Hmmm... so what's more important to me: Having the ability to turn comments on and off on a per post basis, or keeping my old comments viewable to everyone, not just to me.

Feasibly, it's possible for both worlds... but only for a while. I could keep my old Haloscan comments, republish my entire blog, then change the template code to the new comment code. This would solve the problem, but only temporarily. Once I update the template or anything else that would require a blog-wide Republish... well then I lose* all of my old comments.

Fish or Cut Bait... Fish or Cut Bait...

*I'm not actually "losing" comments, I'm just losing them in a public view. If I actually lost them by doing this, then I wouldn't do this.
