Tonight I was confronted by someone who had been audited. She was a bit put-off that she had been removed. Now, if this had been in a comment box I would have shrugged it off with an "Eh..." seeing as how this happened a month-and-a-half ago, but seeing as how it was face to face I had to acknowledge that, Yes I had removed the link to her page. It wasn't a personal slight, just code cleaning.
Of course, she found out because she lurks. As if my readership wasn't dwindling enough already, now I have people that don't even care to acknowledge my existence by simply engaging in conversation. I get enough of that in real life, no need to accept it here as well.
I told her that if she had had a link in return, I might have kept her on. This was only one of two things I looked for during the audit; the other being "Have I met this person in real life, or at least feel like I've met them." If people met these two requisites then I kept up the link-love.
Actually, thats not true. The actual audit consisted of only one question."If I remove this person will they notice or even care that they're gone from my page?" Seems I was wrong.
So she's back... for the time being. |
