    Anonymous   Open door policy

    22.1.04 -  19:40

Today while visiting the ever affluent Barnes and Noble in my ragged streetwear, I paused to open the outer doors for a well-dressed girl. As I stepped into the foyer I found her waiting for me to open the door for her. Confused, I opened the second set of doors and was rewarded with a "Thank You".

I didn't know what to think since every other time this has happened the second set of doors is opened by them. I walked around the store not looking for a purchase, but wondering what was going through her mind. Was she recognizing kindness and allowed me to be a gentleman despite my appearance? Was she lazy or figured little undressed boy should treat her with servitude? When my trance had passed, I searched the store to ask. I didn't find her. Since it was a one in a million event, I figured she understood the respect I was giving her and allowed me to give it freely a second time. At least thinking that helps me sleep better.
