The Quest for CoolSo I'm reading TIME's "What's Next" Issue. I have come to the conclusion that I will never be cool. Oh, don't get me wrong, I knew that I wasn't cool, but this pretty much cinches the fact that cool will never tap my shoulder with its golden finger. Damn coolness. Unless Irma Zandl's new theory that "The Center is the New Edge" holds true. Then I will still not be cool, but it will be easier to laugh at the cool people... I mean, look at them. They shop at Wal-Mart. Loser Cool Kids.
In other news, my car is fixed and I hope to pick it up today. In one week I'm sure that it will break down again.
I have also come to the conclusion that I am a budding technophiliac. This occured to me as I walked to school with my camera draped around my shoulder, my cell against my ear and my PDA in hand copying information from over the line. And on top of this, soon I will have a Digital Camera. These do not qualify as coolness points, however, because I wait until technology is affordable. I'm the Frugal Technophile. I think the only cool points I get from my PDA is that, having only had it for three days now, I already know everything that it is capable of and how to access every bit of gravy.
And I plan on asking the mystery girl out today. If she says, "Yes," then I wll begin using her name. If she says, "No," then I will cry... or not... whatever my PDA schedule says. |
