So I think that this is kind of funny. I guess that makes me a big ole jerk. A big inconsiderate misanthropic jerk. But you have to admit that there is a very dark humor about the event. Or maybe there's not, and I'm just mean.
Magician in Critical After Tiger Attack LAS VEGAS - Illusionist Roy Horn of the duo Siegfried & Roy remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday, a day after a tiger attacked him during a show, and authorities said they still didn't know his chances for recovery.
Actually, what I want to know is if this could be classified as Irony. Irony is expecting one thing and something unexpected happens. Now normally, I would expect a person to get mauled by a tiger, but in the case of Siegfried and Roy, my expectations are that they won't get mauled by a tiger.
(My anticipation is that they will get mauled, but that's not an expectation, it's a dirty mean hope.) (I don't expect them to get mauled, but I hope they get mauled.) No I don't... I don't hope that anyone gets mauled by a tiger.
So is this irony because we didn't expect Roy to get mauled by a tiger, and then he got mauled by a tiger.
Oh, it's brilliant and oh so evil. O. Henry eat your heart out.
So if Roy dies tomorrow, do you think that The Onion will take down their story Thank You, But That Was Siegfried's Idea? |
